Hai everyone, since my bigger aquaponics set left behind in Sabah. Therefore I made a new one here in Johor. This is just experimental indoor set. Because of large space is not available, I just make a mini set. I have gone through a lot of trouble in finding the material needed, and finally, this is the result.

Looking good!
ReplyDeleteFrom my experience and what I had gathered from the internet, a constant flood system is better for a small setup like this. Most plants prefer their roots soaked in moving nutrient water as long as it is well oxygenated.
What fish are you keeping?
Thanks for the advice :)
Deleteoh, is it so? then my work should be be much simpler back then.. quite troubling to get the siphon right.. i made flood and drain because afraid that the root rot if soaked too long in the water. i made one with constant flood system, but the plant was watercress, so it should not be a problem. since i was thinking to grow other type of plant, so i made it this way.. if the siphon went wrong again, i will definitely change the system.. but how do i get the root well oxygenated since the root soaked all the time?
ReplyDeletebtw, i keep tilapia.. only 5 of them.. still fingerlings..
Hye,
ReplyDeleteHow much do it cost to set up a basic aquaponics system?
smallest stable size.
It is depend on price of materials needed. In this project, the whole setup cost no more than RM200/$80.
